¡Ai carumba!

ingrid.jpg Let’s all say, “Hola, Ingrid Hoffman!” She has signed a multi-year deal with Food Network and made her first appearance for the network at the South Beach Wine and Food Festival. Believe me, I wish I was there. How does a smokin’ hot blond Latina end up with a Germanic name? Who cares?!?! Look at her! Some people may feel the Food Network is trying their hardest to become a cleavage fest! I say bring it on!

A soap opera celebrity in her homeland of Columbia, Ingrid was told she was “not Hispanic enough” when she auditioned for similar television roles in Miami. Disappointed, but not discouraged, Ingrid moved to Miami and opened La Capricieuse, a high-fashion luxury boutique in Miami’s Coconut Grove Village. The store was a wild success and expanded to four boutiques with a flagship shop on the island of Aruba.

Following her intense passion for food, Ingrid opened Rocca, the first restaurant to feature tabletop cooking on heated lava rocks. ingrid4.jpgRocca was was an instant success and deemed as one of the hottest destinations for Miami residents and visitors alike. Ingrid also known as one of Miami’s premier live event planners.

Ingrid is the creator and host of Delicioso, a Latin cooking and lifestyle program on the Univision network. Ingrid says, “Delicioso helps busy Hispanic women enjoy and celebrate the zest for life that has become one of the calling cams of our culture in the US.” When asked to explain her concept, Hoffman jokingly describes it as “a cross between Martha Stewart and Sex in the City.” I’ll buy into that! Hey, Ingrid, my TiVo is ready and waiting! Yankees suck!

Nigella, Nigella, Nigella !!!

Slashfood tipped me off today that the Food Network will be airing a new show featuring my dream woman (well, one of them) Nigella Lawson. Nigella is one of Britain’s most influential food writers whose tremendous cross-over television success is being extended to the US on a large scale. She has already been aired on the Style Network with shows called Nigella Bites & Forever Summer with Nigella. I’ll take forever ANYTHING with Nigella … especially the bites!

Nigella’s father, Nigel Lawson, was the second most powerful executive in British politics while serving as Margaret Thatcher’s Chancellor of the Exchequer. She studied medieval and modern languages at Oxford and enjoyed success as a journalist. She also served as Deputy Literary Editor of The Sunday Times. She shifted gears and became a freelance writer for several publications including The Guardian, Daily Telegraph and Times Magazine in the UK. She also wrote for Gourmet and Bon Appétit in the US.

Nigella has authored several books: “Forever Summer”, “Nigella Bites”, “How to Be a Domestic Goddess”, “Feast” & “How to Eat.” She’s also the subject of the Gilly Smith penned biography “Nigella Lawson.”

I once read an article that referred to her as an “irresistible domestic goddess!” My take is that she’d make an irresistible anything. If she were an “irresistible tow truck driver”, I’d buy into that! You can count on Nigella’s new Food Network show being at the top of my TiVo Season Pass priority list!
