From the heart of my hometown … ride this little trolley to the stars
1 oz Capitan Morgan’s Spiced Rum
½ oz Orange Curacao
½ oz Lime Juice
½ oz Sweet & Sour
Combine everything in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake well and strain into a chilled, cinnamon and brown sugar rimmed martini glass.
After years of trials and many, many errors, I finally got the PH balance right when making home-made lemonade. I never thought something so simple could be so hard. Most recipes I saw online never came close to what I think lemonade should be. Living on the east coast I can’t run out the mall and grab a fresh lemonade from Hot Dog-on-a-Stick (now called Muscle Beach Lemonade). This recipe is as good as it gets in the home kitchen. If any of you have your own way of making lemonade, please share!
1 cup fresh-squeezed lemon juice (about 6 to 8 lemons)
7 cups bottled spring water
1 cup granulated sugar
In a small saucepan over medium heat, COMPLETELY dissolve the sugar with 2 cups of the water. You have to use some sort of citrus juicer to get the most juice out of the lemons. I use a fairly inexpensive one and I scrape in all the pulp captured by the grating (minus the seeds). Combine the sugar water with the lemon juice and the rest of the water in a pitcher. Stir until it’s completely mixed. Slice up one or two more lemons and drop the slices into the pitcher. Serve over ice. Bingo!
What do people in Long Island know about making tea-like cocktails? This is the west coast version. Out west is the best!
1 shot vodka
1 shot light rum
1 shot gin
1 shot tequila
1 shot triple sec
1 splash cranberry juice
1 lemon wedge
Ice cubes
In a tall glass, pour shots over ice and top off with cranberry juice and lemon wedge (squeeze if you like). Give it a little shake and drink up!
My friend Mike and I discovered this drink a few years ago. We usually try to get bartenders to mix these up for us. Heavy on the rum, heavy on the fun!
1 oz white rum
1 oz spiced rum
1 oz dark rum
1 oz coconut rum
1 oz peach schnapps
Equal parts pineapple & orange juices
Dash of grenadine
Blend or shake all ingredients with ice. Serve with float of Bacardi 151 for the truly valiant.
Salute!
1 ½ ounces Amaretto
1 ½ ounces vodka
1 ½ ounces sweet-and-sour mix
Shake with ice in a cocktail mixer and strain into a chilled brown sugar rimmed martini glass with a lemon twist.
